USMS Middy Shirt

The United States Maritime Service were the organisation that trained men to be Officers and Crewman in the US Merchant Marine.They were very active during WW2 and have now largely been absorbed into other federal agencies.This wool “crackerjack” middy shirt bears the rank insignia of a Petty Officer 1st class Cook/Baker trade.There is no size label or dates on the garment but it measures 38″ across the armpits and is in very good condition.
