British Army DPM “Short” Bergen Rucksack PCK19

In British Army service since the early 90’s, the iconic “Bergen” rucksack has proved to be a rugged, no-nonsense, well designed piece of kit and is still going strong, merely changing from the original olive green to DPM to the current MTP camouflage. The 70 litre main pack is a single compartment bag featuring internal aluminium frame bars, a large waterproof drawcord throat and the elasticated lid has both an inner and external pocket. On the outside there are side compression straps, numerous attachment tabs and a small zip pouch with a covered flap. The two 10 litre side pouches attach with clips and zips giving a total capacity of 90 litres. The fairly basic padded rear pack face, shoulder straps and hip belt combine to give as much comfort as possible while still being rugged and hard wearing. The Bergen comes in two lengths – these are the short version. From what we can gather the short is recommended for people of stature less than roughly 5’8″ (172cm) These packs have seen military use so will have the usual fading, marks, stains etc but because of the excellent build quality they have many years of use still left in them.
