Pattern 1903 Leather Belt

This type of belt formed the basis of the 1903 Leather Bandoleer equipment set, which was an interim between the Boer War era pattern 1888 Slade Wallace set and the WW1 pattern 1908 canvas web equipment. Never very popular or practical for infantry use, it found favour with mounted units; Cavalry & Artillery etc and the belt continued to be used on into WW2 and was apparently in British Army inventories well into the 90’s. This particular belt was made by Gough & Co Ltd in 1915 and measures 40mm (1 1/2″) wide & 115cm (45″) in total length. It is stamped with various numbers and the letters R A which could possibly mean Royal Artillery use as they were mounted. Overall the leather is still pliable and not cracked and in very good condition given that it is over 100 years old. The original belt keep is missing so we have added a replacement just for appearances sake.
