Made in the U.K during WW2, the Zuckerman helmet (AKA Civilian Protective Helmet), named after one of the designers Solly Zuckerman, was available to purchase for Civil Defence personnel and the general public for the sum of 5 shillings and sixpence (approx NZD$35.00) Made from mild or manganese steel, it was meant to offer protection against falling masonry and debris during an air raid. This helmet was made in June 1941 and is marked a Medium size.
